Richard leads Stephenson Harwood's corporate and commercial disputes group. He specialises in corporate and commercial, financial and fraud disputes. He is regularly instructed by banks, asset managers, sovereign states and large corporates on their most important and complex cases.
Richard has particular experience in investment disputes and regularly advises on claims for mis-selling and related regulatory issues. Richard has a strong US practice and is following the greenwashing/greenhushing debate involving red/blue states closely on behalf of a number of clients. Richard also has extensive experience in the energy sector, including investor state disputes and claims arising from the energy crisis following the conflict in Ukraine.
These types of cross-border dispute often include a political dimension and regularly involve jurisdictional issues, asset freezing orders, cross-border evidence gathering and complex enforcement strategies and defences. Richard has been involved in many such cases, including enforcement proceedings arising from foreign judgments, LCIA, ICC and ICSID arbitrations.
